Apreamare – The Timeless Charm of the Italian Sea

Apreamare is one of the most representative Italian shipyards in the world of recreational boating, renowned for having transformed the tradition of the Sorrentine gozzo into modern, elegant, and comfortable boats.
Its origins date back to the mid-19th century, when the Aprea family began building wooden boats using local artisanal techniques, giving rise to a style destined to become iconic.

Over time, Apreamare has evolved this historic heritage to meet the demands of contemporary navigation: reliable engines, updated technical solutions, and craftsmanship that remains deeply rooted in Italian know-how. The result is boats that retain the charm of the past while offering modern performance, safety, and comfort.

The shipyard is appreciated for the quality of its materials, attention to detail, and design that emphasizes harmonious lines and well-thought-out spaces, ideal both for coastal cruising and daily use. Alongside the production of new boats, Apreamare is also active in refitting and restoration, helping to preserve and enhance historic vessels.

Today, the brand is internationally recognized as a symbol of high-end Mediterranean boating, capable of combining tradition, style, and reliability, while remaining faithful to its original identity.

A Family Story in Sorrentine Boating

Apreamare and Fratelli Aprea share the same family roots, rooted in the historic tradition of the Sorrentine gozzo and the long-standing history of the Aprea family, active in boatbuilding since the mid-19th century.

The tradition began in 1849, when Giovanni Aprea, a master shipwright in Sorrento, started building wooden boats for fishing and coastal navigation. His artisanal knowledge was passed down through generations, creating a construction style that would become a symbol of Mediterranean boating.

The path leading to the birth of modern Apreamare took shape in 1988, when Cataldo Aprea, a direct descendant of the family, founded Apreamare S.r.l. together with Salvatore Pollio. The new shipyard evolved the traditional gozzo by introducing modern technologies, engines, and a contemporary international vision, while remaining faithful to the classic lines and original spirit. After a period of industrialization, Apreamare returned in 2010 under the control of the Aprea and Pollio families, reaffirming its family identity.

Meanwhile, Fratelli Aprea represents the branch of the family most connected to craftsmanship continuity. Founded at the end of the 19th century by Cataldo Aprea, the shipyard has maintained a strongly traditional approach, focusing on handcrafting and forms faithful to the original gozzo. Today, the business is carried forward by Giovanni Aprea together with his sons Antonino and Francesco Aprea, who continue to preserve and pass on the family knowledge.

Apreamare and Fratelli Aprea are therefore two different paths born from the same origin:
the first focused on a modern reinterpretation of the gozzo, the second dedicated to its most authentic expression.
Two complementary visions that together tell the story and excellence of Sorrentine boating.
